In the past hour here at the Dunlop Daytona Tire Test, race teams have issued forth a steady stream of bikes onto the hot pit lane.
We’ve seen the Erion Racing number 80 CBR600RR and Superbikes of Kurtis Roberts, the 22 machine of Kawasaki’s Tommy Hayden—along with Tommy himself, in street clothes and sitting on the pit wall—and the Yamahas of Damon Buckmaster and Aaron Gobert.
Word has it that the track will go hot at about 10:00 or so; we’re waiting for the last few damp patches to dry out completely. Ahh, there’s nothing like the smell of race gas in the morning.
